Taskin Ahmed has been grappling with a persistent shoulder injury since Bangladesh's tour of South Africa last year, and the issue flared up during the recent World Cup in India.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has opted for a conservative approach to address Taskin's condition, choosing to provide him with complete rest for a duration of four weeks.

"Taskin's injury is a recurring one and he has been consistently feeling shoulder pain. We want to bring him under a long rehabilitation programme. We have discussed with him about not bowling for a long time," BCB's chief physician Dr. Debashish Chowdhury told the media on Thursday.

During the World Cup, Taskin was unavailable for matches against India and South Africa, and even when he did play, he couldn't bowl at full intensity.

The BCB's medical department has decided to assess Taskin's condition by allowing him to recuperate without bowling for the next four weeks. This recovery period commenced after the last World Cup match against Australia in Pune on November 11.

Throughout his injury struggles, Taskin has played through the pain, resorting to painkillers for relief. While surgery was an option, it came with no guaranteed success. Taskin had previously expressed a preference for conservative treatment, considering it a better alternative.

Despite the possibility of him being fit to bowl, there was speculation about his potential participation in the upcoming tour of New Zealand.

"Taskin is able to bowl, but he is having to take painkillers often and he has faced problems with bowling speed too. So we want a long-term rehabilitation process so that he can return with full fitness. We have asked him to completely put off bowling for four weeks. After four weeks, we will assess him and take the next decision. Our aim is that he comes back with full fitness. We will allow whatever time is necessary," Debashish said.

Meanwhile, another fast bowler Ebadot Hossain is out of the field for a long time due to a knee injury sustained before the Asia Cup.

For which he also underwent surgery at London's Cromwell Hospital. Even though he came to Mirpur in the middle of the World Cup, he was just walking then. But there is no possibility of him getting fit before January’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

Even though he was knocked out for a long time, Ebadot is being sent to England again to understand the condition of the injury. In this context, Debashish said, "Ebadot's knee operation was done two months ago. He is going to England again to understand the condition of his injury."
