Bangladesh opener Imrul Kayes has refuted former England captain Michael Vaughan's statement about the lack of unity among players and individual gameplay in the Bangladesh team.
Bangladesh became the first team to be eliminated from the tournament after crashing to a seven-wicket defeat by Pakistan, Vaughan commented after that.
“They disappoint me, Bangladesh, because they've played a lot of cricket now. And you see what Afghanistan are doing—a team that's only just coming to the marketplace but are producing some wonderful, real, disciplined, process-driven performances where Afghanistan look like they're playing as a team. You can see that they've got a collective group that play for Afghanistan as a team. I don't watch Bangladesh and think team. I see individuals playing for Bangladesh, not a collective playing for the group,” Vaughan said in a Cricbuzz show yesterday.

Imrul disagreed with Vaughan’s statement in Cricfrenzy Live, stating that he knows nothing about the cricketing culture of Bangladesh.

According to Imrul, no one from outside can understand the team’s combination, how Shakib leads the team, and how others trust themselves and help each other on the field.
Meanwhile, World Cup holders England suffered their fifth loss in six matches and all but ended their semi-final hopes too.
"England is also on the same boat as Bangladesh. So what would you say? We actually know our team well. Michael Vaughan would not remotely know or understand our cricketing culture. No one from outside will understand how Shakib [Al Hasan] or others trust themselves, and help. We will understand this better by seeing the dressing room. Those who played with Shakib know about all these,” Imrul said on Cricfrenzy's live.
“He can talk a lot from outside. So we should not make such a fuss about that. Because we grew up in our own culture. He grew up in his. I think his words are not correct. It is our difficult time. Our team, our country, we want to move further,” he added.
