Bangladesh coach Mohammad Salahuddin lamented Bangladesh’s defeat against the Netherlands, stating that it was ‘unacceptable’ for everyone.

The Orange Army thrashed Bangladesh by 87 runs in their latest encounter in the World Cup. The Tigers were chasing 230 runs but were unable to reach the target, stumbling down to a humiliating 142 runs.

Bangladesh started their tournament on a high note with a win against Afghanistan, following that Bangladesh slumped to a fifth successive defeat against the Dutch.

Salahuddin reckoned that there were high expectations from the side since their recent win against South Africa and England at home.

"You see, we had a chance in the ODIs. People's demand has risen dramatically. Since we defeated South Africa, England on home soil. It turned out that no one could defeat us. Everyone would have hopes and dreams. It’s not possible for people to accept that you lost to the Netherlands,” said Salahuddin to Cricfrenzy.

Salahuddin also criticized the reappointment of Chandika Hathurusingha as the head coach who worked with the national team between 2014 and 2017.

Hathurusingha's first stint ended on a sour note, with the Sri Lankan tendering his resignation during Bangladesh's tour of South Africa in 2017 to take over as Sri Lanka's head coach. Salahuddin stated that Hathurusingha’s departure was not an ‘ideal’.

"I heard someone say, 'Why would you bring back someone who left you?'" I don't think he said anything wrong. I can let you go 10 times if I can let you go once. However, we greeted him (Hathurusingha) with open arms. Everything should be carefully thought,” he added.
