After a comeback century from veteran Mahmudullah Riyad in a World Cup match against South Africa in Mumbai on Tuesday, his teammate Imrul Kayes and coach Mohammad Salahuddin applauded him during a World Cup special live show on Cricfrenzy.
With a crushing 149-run defeat against South Africa Bangladesh have now suffered four defeats in five games and sit rock-bottom of the 10-team group.
Despite these circumstances, opener Imrul Kayes is happy for Mahmudullah’s century, which is a very special one for Mahmudullah after his ups and downs in the past few months.
“I really wanted Riyad Bhai to do something like that in the World Cup. All the controversies that happened before his inclusion, whether he will stay in the team or not. And I played with him in the Premier League and I could understand his psychological issues, he was very disappointed when he was left out of the national cricket. But really I am very happy, Alhamdulillah, Riyad Bhai has scored a hundred finally and I pray that he will score another hundred,” said Imrul.

Coach Salahuddin and many more were talking about Mahmudullah’s batting position, which was at lower order in the past games.
Salahuddin was very happy to watch Mahmudullah, who knew that he would bat at no. 6 against the Proteas, play up the order and he has proved his worth for the team.
“Riyad was under a lot of pressure because it was very important for him to perform. As he was out of the team for the last 6 months, after many attempts to drop him, he has returned to the team and Mash’Allah he is performing very well. He showed his character, he was determined to show it and he did it. Today he got an opportunity to bat up the order and he used it well. We were talking about it here (Cricfrenzy Live) that batting up the order would be good for the team and he has proved that he deserves to bat early,” Salahuddin said.
“Alhamdulillah, I really enjoyed watching his century. Although, we did not play well as a team, but as an individual performance, Riyad's performance was excellent.”
The century is Mahmudullah's third in a World Cup, the most by a Bangladesh batter followed by Shakib Al Hasan with two and Mushfiqur Rahim, who has one century in a World Cup.
