England's Alex Hales has announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect, at the age of 34.
The 34-year-old on Friday took to social media to announce his decision of retirement.
"It has been an absolute privilege to have represented my country on 156 occasions across all three formats. I've made some memories and some friendships to last a lifetime and I feel that now is the right time to move on,” Hales said in a statement.

"Throughout my time in an England shirt I've experienced some of the highest highs as well as some of the lowest lows. It's been an incredible journey and I feel very content that my last game for England was winning a World Cup final."

Hales made his comeback when England toured Pakistan last year for a seven-match bilateral T20I series after he was ruled out of the England squad ahead of the 50-over World Cup at home in 2019 after he was found guilty of recreational drug use.
He played a pivotal role in the last year's T20 World Cup 2022 as England won the title by beating Pakistan in the final.
Hales made his England debut back in 2011 and appeared in 11 Tests, 70 ODIs and 75 T20Is, the right-hander scored 5066 runs in three formats respectively, with seven hundreds and 31 half-centuries.
