Tigresses fail to secure direct qualification for World Cup
25 Jan 25The Bangladesh women's cricket team on Sunday won their first one-day international match against India by 40 runs (D/L method), three days after defeating their neighbors in their first victory in five years.
At the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Bangladesh defended a modest score of 152 runs with the help of young bowler Marufa Akter, who took four wickets for 29 runs.
Bangladesh skipper Nigar Sultana Joty made a stubborn 39 on a tough pitch to give her bowlers something to defend.

The Tigresses made history by beating the visitors today after their first ever T20I win against India in Mirpur.
"Whatever we do becomes history. We won after a long time against India [in the previous match]. Also, [this has come] in Mirpur. I will definitely say we're part of history. We will definitely try to make more history in the future." Joty said after the match.
With two consecutive victories, the national team is now dreaming of winning the ODI series. However, the Bangladesh captain is not ready to be overwhelmed.
“Obviously the girls were more than thrilled but I said no it's not over yet. Because when you do good, you will have more responsibility. As you have an expectation that we’ll win the series, we have that too,” Joty said.
“Because we know if we play good cricket we will take a step forward which will be a big achievement for our cricket. So far I've stopped them [teammates] saying there's still a lot to cheer about. Maybe if we can take the series, we will celebrate then” she added.
