Chennai Super Kings (CSK) nearly pulled off a heroic victory against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match on Wednesday.

CSK captain MS Dhoni remained unbeaten until the very end but the 'Thala' was unable to send the ball to the boundary when they needed 5 runs to win the game.

As a result, Rajasthan won by a score of 3 runs. After the game, CSK coach Stephen Fleming revealed concerning information, claiming Dhoni is nursing a knee injury.

Particularly when facing spinners, Dhoni appeared to be in flawless form as he delivered some of his signature sixes. With the help of one boundary and three sixes, Dhoni scored a staggering 32 off just 17 balls, forming an important partnership with Ravindra Jadeja, who scored 25 off 15 balls.

"He is nursing a knee injury, which you can see in some of his movements. It's hindering him somewhat. His fitness has always been very professional. He comes a month before the tournament starts. He's a great player. We have never doubts over him. He's just amazing," Fleming said in the press conference.

Although Dhoni's injury has been confirmed, Fleming didn't suggest that it might prevent Dhoni from participating in the upcoming games for CSK.

Fleming, however, is worried about the increasing number of injuries from the seam attack. Sisanda Magala, a fast bowler from South Africa, only bowled two overs against the Royals before leaving the game due to a split webbing.

He is anticipated to miss at least two weeks. He had coincidentally been added to the Super Kings team as a replacement player after Kyle Jamieson of New Zealand was forced to withdraw from the competition due to injury.

Mukesh Choudhary, a left-arm seamer who will miss the entire IPL season, is already absent from the Super Kings.
