Shakib becomes highest wicket-taker in T20Is

During second T20I between Bangladesh and Ireland at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram, Shakib Al Hasan, the captain of Bangladesh in both Tests and T20Is, achieved a new record by taking the most wickets in T20Is.
After trapping George Dockrell leg-before off the third ball of the sixth over, Shakib reached this milestone. Shakib reached his second career five-for in this format when he castled Harry Tector three balls later.
In T20I cricket, he has 136 wickets at an average of 20.67 and a 6.8 economy rate. In addition, he has 2339 runs with a 122.33 strike rate.
Second on the list and with 134 wickets in 107 T20Is is Southee, while Rashid Khan has 129 to his name for the third spot.

Shakib ended his four-over quota for the game, giving away 22 runs for five wickets.
Five for 20 against West Indies in Mirpur in 2018 is his best figure in T20Is.
The other active cricketers to have more than 100 wickets in the shortest format of the game are New Zealand's Ish Sodhi (114), Pakistan's Shadab Khan (101) and Bangladesh's Mustafizur Rahman (100).
Courtesy his unbeaten 38 and 5/22, Bangladesh won the game by 77 runs. Shakib was declared Player of the Match for his efforts.
