Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal has stated that his team will attempt to play their best cricket against Zimbabwe in the three-match One-Day International series, which begins on Friday at the Harare Sports Club.

Even though T20I is not their favorite format, Bangladesh were expected to win the series but ended up losing 2-1.

By doing so Zimbabwe not only registered their first ever series victory against Bangladesh, but it was also their maiden series win against a Test nation in this format.

But ODI is a format in which Bangladesh are a top team in the world at the moment. Since the 2019 ODI World Cup, they played nine bilateral series and won seven.

The two defeats came at the hands of Sri Lanka in 2019 and New Zealand in 2021.

Tamim knows Zimbabwe are a tough team on their home soil but he is keen to play better cricket and secures the 20th consecutive ODI win for Bangladesh.

"Zimbabwe are a tough team to beat on their home soil. However, we are a bit ahead of them. But the team that plays better cricket on the match day wins it" Tamim said Thursday in a pre-match press conference.

"They won the T20I series because they played better cricket. We have to play our best cricket if we want to beat them in the ODIs" he added.

Bangladesh's last ODI series before the Zimbabwe series was in South Africa, where they won their first-ever ODI series.

Under the captaincy of Tamim, Bangladesh won six of their last seven ODI series.

"We have to do what we have been doing for a long time. Also, we need to rectify the mistakes that we made before" Tamim added.

The first match of the series will start Friday at 1:15pm (Bangladesh time). The other two matches will be played on August 7 and 10 at the same time.
