England beat Bangladesh in Women's WC warm-up game

Bangladesh women's team were thumped by 109 runs in the Women's World Cup warm-up match against England at Lincoln, New Zealand.


Nat Sciver smashed a century, 108 off 101 balls to set Bangladesh a target of 311. Chasing the target, opener Shamima Sultana made 33 while Sharmin Akhter top-scored with 81 off 137 balls but Bangladesh were always behind the run rate and eventually could muster 201.


Sciver, Freya Davies and Charlie Dean took two wickets each for the winning side.

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl, England openers Lauren Winfield-Hill and Tammy Beaumont put on 81 for the first wicket before Beaumont had to depart as Winfield-Hill scored 55 off 43.


Then, Nat Sciver came to the crease, the all-rounder struck nine boundaries before being dismissed in the penultimate over by Rumana Ahmed on 108 runs.


Danni Wyatt and Sophia Dunkley went in successive deliveries from Nahida Akter, who was Bangladesh’s best bowler finishing with three for 49.


Lamb played a cameo innings of 28 as England ended on 310 for nine, setting Bangladesh a target 100 runs.


Apart from Nahida bagged three wickets while Suraiya Azmim and Ritu Moni picked up a couple of wickets for Bangladesh.
