The 13th edition of Indian premier League (IPL) is all set to begin on September 19. Two-time IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Dinesh Karthik has said that it was difficult to let go of Australian batsman Chris Lynn at the auction as he is one of the vital cogs of the side who was referred to as an 'absolute gun' by Dinesh Karthik
“We had to let go of Lynn with a heavy heart, whatever time he spent with the franchise, he was an absolute gun," he said.

He added, "Name of the Game is Safety. Every team has a doctor and they'll be guiding us. We just need to make sure we are responsible. We need to make sure we don't do anything silly and get through this tournament safely."
Lynn was an important part of the team since 2014 and he also helped the side win several times. But he wasn’t picked up KKR in the auction in December 2019 and Mumbai Indians bought him for his base price of Rs 2 crore as well.
However, KKR bought England’s world cup winning captain Eoin Morgan in the last auction. Dinesh Karthik also praised Morgan for his brilliance. He also said that he will try learning from the England captain.
“Eoin Morgan is there with us for this season, I have met him a couple of times, he is a gem of a guy, being a solid human being is something that everyone looks at, he is a World Cup-winning captain. Morgan just fits the bill perfectly for us," he added.
Notably, the Kolkata Knight Riders team bought the wicketkeeper-batsman for a whopping 5.25 crore.
