Bangladesh T20 skipper Mahmudullah Riyad and pacer Mustafizur Rahman walked the same path as Bangladesh ODI skipper and hard-hitting opener Tamim Iqbal who turned down a lucrative offer to play in the upcoming edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

But Riyad cited his personal and family grounds for his unavailability of playing in the CPL. Tamim refused the offer in order to be available in Dhaka Premier League (DPL) that was suspended since March after the conclusion of the first-round games due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Discussions between Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB], Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) and the players are in a regular effort in order to get the tournament back to the field wherein Tamim played a key role in the mediation.

Riyad gave ‘no’ to his answer after holding talks with all on Tuesday. Riyad said that he got offers from both Saint Lucia Zouks and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots.

“The offer I got from CPL was very good for me. Both Saint Lucia and Saint Kits offered me to play in the upcoming edition of the CPL.

“I was in discussion with them for the last five days. I held talks with my family members, who are feeling insecure to play in such a time of the coronavirus pandemic. And so, I have to negate their offer,” Mahmudullah Riyad said in his reaction to the media.

However, Mustafizur Rahman got a plume offer from a CPL franchise team. He informed them not to go to play in CPL.

The cutter master, who raised a storm with his mysterious bowling in the initial period of his career, was reluctant to disclose the name of the CPL franchise team he got an offer from.

Riyad played for Jamaica Tallawahs and St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in CPL, while Tamim made his only appearance in the tournament in 2013 for St Lucia Zouks. The left-handed batsman played seven matches for the CPL T20 side and scored 162 with highest score of 75.
