Shakib popular on facebook, Tamim on YouTube

Even though the on-field healthy competition between Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal has always been seen in the national team, this time their popularity has been measured on social media.
To find the answer of who is popular more on social media, one can easily figure out to see their largest fan following on the official Facebook page and YouTube channel of the duo star cricketers.
Although Facebook or YouTube can’t be the main and authentic indicator of measuring popularity, the cricketers have innumerable fans in the net world.
However, Shakib’s followers on Facebook are the most among Bangladeshi cricketers. Shakib has around 11 million, while Tamim has a total of 2.6 million that much less than Mushfiqur Rahim (9.5), Mashrafe Mortaza (8.4) and even Mustafizur Rahman (6.3) though Tamim is far ahead of them on YouTube. He can also be considered the pioneer of his teammates on this platform.
Both Tamim and Shakib opened their respective YouTube channel after their names during the month of coronavirus when all the cricketing activities have been stalled indefinitely.
Tamim’s live show chat on Facebook with the former and current cricketers of the country and abroad has become very popular. Cricket fans, former and current cricketers across the world and even BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon are regular spectators to Tamim’s show.
Tamim is posting his Facebook live show on his YouTube channel. The number of subscribers is increasing at the speed of the storm. Although the channel is two weeks older, it has got 66,000 subscribers within the shortest possible time.
At this time, Tamim has posted 11 videos, in where there were 9 episodes of his live chat session with the famed national and international cricketers the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Kane Williamson, Faf du Plessis, Wasim Akram coupled with Akram Khan, Minhajul Abedin Nannu, Khaled Mashud Pilot, Khaled Mahmud Sujon, Habibul Hashar Sumon, Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Mahmudullah Riyad and Mushfiqur Rahim, Taskin Ahmed, Nasir Hossain.
Shakib entered the YouTube world a week ago after Tamim. The all-rounder has kept the content of his channel very private. Recently he just posted a video to introduce his second daughter with his numerous fans across the globe on the channel. Shakib’s channel has got attention of just over 15,000 subscribers so far.
The friendship between the poster boys of Bangladesh cricket is known to all. Shakib first met Tamim in Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) U-15 Camp from where they played together in Under-17 and Under-18.
And, they have been teammates in the national team for more than a decade as of now. Both cricketers have been playing in all three formats of cricket for so long. The competition between them is to surpass each other and earn milestones to their hut.
However, there was a temporary break in the fight between them at 22 yards as Shakib has been banned from cricket for a year. After the ban, this healthy fight will again be seen in cricket. Till then, we have to wait to see more accomplishments from them that will virtually enrich Bangladesh cricket in the long run.
