BCB waiting for government green signal to resume cricket

Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB] chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury said that they are waiting for government green signal to resume cricket.
BCB halted all kinds of sporting activities in the country right after the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. Also, the board started to work from home and told all administrative employees not to step outside of the home if there's not an emergency call.
Cricketers were busy playing in Bangabandhu Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League [DPL] countries most coveted List-A tournament before lockdown hit the country. The tournament got postponed after finishing its first round on 16 March. Since then, the cricketers of the country are passing time staying at home.

The BCB CEO, Nizamuddin Chowdhury told the media recently that they are also looking forward to resuming the game just like the cricketers, but are waiting for the government signal as it's up their hand.
“We want to resume the game in Bangladesh and the cricketers are also hoping for so. But it’s not up to us. At first, we need everything to go back to normalcy. We are waiting for a green signal from the government. We have no plan to bring the cricket back to the field without the government instruction,” Nizamuddin Chowdhury said.
Not only the domestic cricket but also the international schedules of the national team has been drastically shattered due to the novel coronavirus. The Tigers were scheduled to tour to Pakistan at the beginning of April, also they were scheduled to tour to Ireland, both of this tour has been postponed for an indefinite period. However, the tour to Sri Lanka is yet to confirm which is scheduled in June-July this year.
The BCB CEO said that they are observing the situation Sri Lanka but then again the board is not in the position to say anything as everything is upon on government currently.
“We have not postponed the Sri Lanka series yet. We are observing the situation in Sri Lanka. To be honest, we are not in a position to talk about the future of this series. We are currently thinking much on the series which are postponed due to the virus,” He added.
However, Nizamuddin said that the board is planning to resume cricket in Bangladesh with the domestic events which are being stopped now. At the same time, cricketers are also looking forward to this year’s Dhaka League which is the main source of income for hundreds of cricketers who only play in domestic cricket and all the players want the board not to cancel the tournament.
Meanwhile, more than 11,000 people tested positive for coronavirus in Bangladesh while the death toll is 186. Though the country was maintaining strict lockdown from the beginning but recently, the government decided to ease the lockdown as it permitted shopping malls to be reopened on a limited scale of time and offering prayers at mosques with proper precaution.aa
