Bangladesh T20 skipper Mahmudullah Riyad said that he doesn't rely on long term planning, instead, he believes there should be madness in the goal.
The all-round batsman Mahmudullah has been appointed as the skipper of the Bangladesh team following up the ban of Shakib Al Hasan before the India series, where Mahmudullah played his first T20I, leading the team and conquered the first match. Although the team lost the series but in the home condition against Zimbabwe, Tigers regained their confidence by defeating them.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic cricketing event of this year has already been drastically shattered, though the International Cricket Council [ICC] is hoping to host the biggest tournament of the year in their slotted time despite doubts are looming over it.

In the meantime on Friday ICC has published their new ranking where Bangladesh toppled Afghanistan and restrain the number eight position. The skipper is however not thinking much about the ranking as he said that his team is more than capable of changing the ranking overnight if they play according to the plan. Though Mahmudullah also said that he is not a believer of long term plan. He likes to set up his goal as it seems like a madness. And to reach that goal one has to be crazy enough to give his all effort.
"There was a plan. But personally I don’t believe in long-term planning. Yes, the calculation of how much we can achieve in a particular tournament is in mind. Playing well in every match or series before any big event gives you an extra confidence. We are far behind in the T20 rankings. However, I believe that if we can play according to our ability, we will be able to change the ranking very quickly. Our team is very promising and well balanced. But we can't play according to that. This is our failure," Mahmudullah said in an interview to a leading Bengali daily.
"I believe that if the goal is big enough, then you might not be able to reach anywhere near. The goal must be like madness. Many may say, 'Crazy, what are you saying' but the goal should be like that. Then you can run after it like crazy," He added.
Bangladesh is expected to start their WC campaign from 19 October by playing against Netherlands, Namibia and Scotland in the first round of the competition to book a spot in the Super 12.
However, Mahmudullah is not giving any hints of how madness his goal has been reached so far for the ICC T20 World Cup. Thus he said that he will not disclose anything, but as per him, the goal needs to be bigger.
"(laughs) I can't say at the moment. It’s something which I don’t want to disclose. Will only say that the goal needs to be much bigger," Mahmudullah concluded.
