Former national skipper Rajen  Saleh is eyeing to take up cricket coaching as a full-time profession after being appointed by the Bangladesh Cricket Board as the new head coach of   Sylhet Division for the upcoming edition of National Cricket League , country’s traditional first-class tournament.

Rajin ended his 22 years long cricket career in 2018  during the last edition of NCL where he had to perform several roles in the Sylhet dressing room that included coach cum captaincy.

‘’I am really excited to guide Sylhet Division in the upcoming NCL as the head coach after being appointed by the BCB,’’ Rajin told Cricfrenzy on Monday.
‘’I am looking forward to taking up these challenges. I want to be a full time coach. I am being associated with cricket for the last 22 years and want to share my experience with the boys in the Sylhet dressing room for the upcoming season of NCL,’’he said.

The 35-year old represented Bangladesh in 24 Tests and 43 One-Day Internationals from 2003 to 2008.
Born on November 20, 1983, Rajin Saleh was considered one of the most talented prospects from Bangladesh. Pitch forked into the international scene at an early age of 19, Saleh was considered as one of the favorites of the then Bangladesh coach, Dav Whatmore. He was the 12th man in Bangladesh's inaugural Test against India in 2000.

Technically sound and with an ability to demonstrate patience, Saleh went on to captain Bangladesh in the 2004 Champions Trophy held in England after Habibul Basher broke his thumb. However lack of consistency led to his downfall.

He failed to notch up a century in Test cricket. While in ODIs, barring a century against Kenya, his graph followed the one of his Tests and he was dumped from the team after the 2006 Champions Trophy.

His final international for Bangladesh came at the 2008 Test at the Shere Bangla in Dhaka against New Zealand.
