Bangladesh Shakib al Hasan said on Monday that he had nothing to prove despite his one-man show in the ongoing World Cup.
Shakib reveled in multiple records to script his side’s 62-run win over Afghanistan and thereby kept the Tigers alive in the World Cup semifinal race.
He became the first Bangladeshi bowler to claim a five-for that was the most significant feat in record-filled day for him at the Rose Bowl in Southampton on Monday.
Before producing his career-best bowling, a stupendous figure that read 10-1-29-5, Shakib struck a patient 51to help Bangladesh recover from tricky state and thereby reveled in yet another powerful show in the cricket’s biggest extravaganza. It feels good when there is a target as it always inspires me to achieve that. And it always feels good to when I achieve that,’’ he said pointing towards his satisfaction of equaling Yuvraj Singh’s record.

‘’It was needed and it was important from my perspective and from team’s prospective. Luckily I have been doing this and very happy the way this tournament is going so far,’’ he said.
Shakib added that he was well prepared for the tournament but added that he had nothing to prove.
‘’I did prepare well but I never felt that I have a point to prove,’’ he said.
‘’I did everything that I could do before the World Cup started for my preparation. Luckily, it has been helping me a lot,’’ he said.
‘’I don’t rank my performance at all. But It is satisfying when I am contributing with both bat and ball. It gives me more satisfaction other than contributing in just one sector,’’ he said.
He also became only second player with 50 plus score and five-for in a World Cup match after Yuvraj Singh who achieved the feat against Ireland in 2011 World Cup.
By doing all these things, he reclaimed the top spot in batting with 476 runs, going past David Warner’s 447 and scalped 10 wickets, making him the most valuable players so far.
