Former West Indian captain Clive Lloyd insisted that they will have only themselves to blame if they don’t make it to the semifinals in the ongoing ICC World Cup.
West Indies arrived in the tournament with a very powerful squad with all their superstars who were away from international cricket returning back to bolster their strength.
Seasoned campaigner like Chris Gayle, Andre Russel, Evin Lewis, Nicolas Pooran all who were absent in the tri-nation series in Ireland included in the World Cup squad to help the West Indies to bring back their former glory.

They also started their World Cup mission with a bang by getting Pakistan all out in just 21.4 overs and winning the match by seven wickets.
However, after that performance West Indies performance gone substantially down as they failed to win any further game so far while Lloyd believe they should have won against Australia and Bangladesh in the group stage that they lost despite putting up some valiant effort.
“They have themselves to blame if they miss the semi-finals, they should have beaten Australia and they definitely should have seen off Bangladesh as well,’’ Lloyd was quoted in his ICC column where he praised the performance of Bangladesh.
‘’But the Bangladesh side did their homework and deserved their victory,’’ said Llyod.
Lloyd said that he is impressed with Shai Hope’s performance and glad that Evin Lewis is back in form and according to the two-time world champions Llyod West Indies batsmen should put bigger price on their wicket and try to score big innings.
“Shai Hope has been playing extremely well for quite a while since he has arrived on the international scene. And it was good to see Evin Lewis get a score at last. I think he is a terrific cricketer.” Llyod said.
“The problem with the West Indies batsmen, they are getting good starts and then not capitalizing by making big scores. They need to put a higher price on their wicket,’’ he concluded.
