Bangladesh team management is adamant to get a fully fit Mohammad Saifuddin in their rest of the journey in the World Cup after the cricket’s showpiece event widely opened following Sri Lanka’s upset win over England.

The Tigers now has the chance to reach the last four of the cricket’s biggest carnival which looked bleak after their defeat against Australia.

A board official said on Saturday that they are going to wait till the last minute for injured Saifuddin who has been their most successful bowler with nine scalps in four matches and also has been captain’s ‘go to’ bowler in the death overs.

Bangladesh felt his absence badly in the match against Australia in the death overs when the Aussies plundered 136 runs in last 10 overs.

Considering his impact, the team management kept their faith on Saifuddin despite the recent injury fiasco that spurred through the several media as well as in different social platforms alleging that he had took course of acting to make sure that he is inured and as a result being dropped against Australia.

‘’I just saw him lying in front of the physio table and he is working with him. We are waiting for the physio report,’’ BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricfrenzy on Saturday.

‘’His injury is not that serious but he got stiff ness on his back muscle. It can happen as they are not used to play for such a long period at a stretch,’’ he said.

‘’If he is not available than we have to choose between Taskin[ Ahmed] and Farhad Reza,’’ he said.

According to sources, Bangladesh team management sat on a meeting immediately after reaching the team hotel that included chief selector Minhajul Abedin, skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and head coach Steve Rhodes among others to take a decision regarding injured pace man.

Whether Saifuddin is carrying real injury or it is a so-called injury like the way it is projected in media is yet to be established as that is dependent on the report of the physio Thian Chandramohan but one thing is for sure there are wide spread whispering about the mentality of the pace bowler, who apparently skipped the match against Australia due to side strain.

However, other sources confirmed that skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza is still keeping his faith on the all-rounder.

A reliable source who was attending the meeting said on request of not to be named that according to Mashrafe he is the best bowler in the death and he insisted that if he is fit than they should stick with him considering the experience he gathered playing so far in the tournament

‘’He is bringing vital breakthrough and so far played well in the tournament, isn’t it,’’ questioned the source adding that Mashrafe highlighted that specific area when he was asked whether they need a replacement right away.

Doubts were raised after out of nowhere Saifuddin claimed that he is having pain on his back that he sustained during the game against West Indies.

Questions were raised why he did not asked medication immediately during the match against West Indies and instead just informed about just when the team management was looking to select the playing XI.

And his past history forced many to believe he is acting to be injured.

During the last edition of the Bangladesh Premier League Saifuddin was cautioned by Comilla Victorians management not to make any drama regarding sustaining injuries and this act itself speaks a lot about the mindset of the people around him both at the club level and in the national dressing room.

Saifuddin decision to play in the Dhaka Premier League also remained a case that need to be monitored well by the Bangladesh Cricket Board as he was supposed to take injection at that point for his tennis elbow instead of playing the tournament.

Due to the tennis elbow problem in his right hand he fielded in the 30 yards circle but did not wish to skip matches as he was facing no problem in batting or bowling and only struggled throwing from the deep.

To recover from the injury special injection is a must but after injection he required a three weeks rest and because of playing the league he opted to skip the injection.

In World Cup though the injury didn’t trouble him still but there is always chances as it is not fully cured there is a risk element attached with his tennis elbow.

It is however still not clear whether Saifuddin is suffering from tennis elbow or back pain.
