Former Australian middle-order batsman Mike Hussey believes Bangladesh has the ability to reach to the top of ODI cricket.
According to Hussey Bangladesh’s batting is right up there with the best but their bowling has much more work to do.
“Their batting is phenomenal. To reach to the top of ODI cricket, they need to find some good pacers and some quality spinners too. If they can keep this up, then definitely they can reach to the top.” Hussey was quoted in a leading cricket website.

“Bangladesh’s batting has improved a lot. I think Bangladesh’s batting is equal to Australia's batting.”
“I think in one department Bangladesh was lagging behind, it’s their bowling. They have to improve a lot in that department.” Hussey added.
Bangladesh’s batting in the World Cup has been remarkable so far, they have scored 300+ runs three times in the five matches they played.
They scored 330 against South Africa, 322 against West Indies and 333 against Australia.
Bangladesh have scored three centuries so far in this tournament, two back to back centuries from Shakib Al Hasan against England and West Indies and one from Mushfiqur Rahim against Australia. Bangladesh top order has been scoring runs consistently in this tournament against top class bowling attacks.
On the other hand bowling is a matter of concern for Bangladesh. They are leaking too many runs, they are giving away so many runs that at the end its becoming too much to chase down. In the five matches Bangladesh played, opponents scored over 300 runs four times in those five matches. South Africa scored 309, England scored 386, West Indies scored 321 and Australia scored 381. Against England and Australia it was too much for the batsmen to chase down even though they played well.
