Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe bin Mortaza on Wednesday insisted that the scars of Christchurch incident is diminishing from the mind of his team mates in quick pace.
Forty-nine people have been shot dead and 48 injured in attacks targeting Muslims at two mosques during Friday prayers in Christchurch, in the worst mass shooting in New Zealand’s history.
The third Test between New Zealand and Bangladesh, scheduled to be played on March 16 at the Hagley Oval, has been cancelled in the aftermath of the terror attacks in Christchurch. Bangladesh's players were on their way to the Al Noor mosque for prayers, delayed by a late press conference and an overrunning game of football at Hagley Oval. Had they not had Mahmudullah take as long in the presser, they may have been inside the mosque when the attack began. Instead, they were being driven there in a coach when the players spotted bodies lying in the road. Then, they heard gunshots.

They had the most horrible decision to make. Stay on the coach, leaving themselves as potential sitting ducks, or get out and run back to the ground. They hid for a time on the bus but finally decided to leave. Thankfully, they all returned to Hagley Oval safely.
The attacks rocked New Zealand to its core, with the country descending into national grief. Muslims were attacked that day in Christchurch, but this was an attack on a whole country, on tolerance, on inclusivity, on a way of life that wants to bring people together not tear them apart
The players returned unscathed, but were mentally scarred with Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal taking to twitter to express their shock and asking followers to pray for their safety.
‘’Everyone is healing much better,’’ said Mashrafe.
‘’They feel very good and our team is playing as a team, which is very important. And a good thing that everyone is fit now, fit to play and everyone is looking forward that if we can have a good match tomorrow, which is you'll never know, then you also -- you will still be strong in this tournament. So that will be great, that if we can manage it,’’ he said.
