Former Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara expressed his disappointment over the drainage system of this World Cup, stating that some grounds are not equipped properly to hold a game once the rain stops.
He said it [ Drainage system ] varies from ground to ground. Sangakkara believes in a mega event like the World Cup, every ground must have a superior drainage facility.
"It's obvious that drainage efficiency in the different venues varies greatly. In Bristol, we saw the game between Pakistan and Sri Lanka being called off in sunshine due to wet patches on the outfield while the match between England and West Indies in Southampton was played despite heavy rain throughout the week," he said.

Sangakkara also articulated his dissatisfaction with the variations in wickets in this World Cup.
In this World Cup, on some grounds, he said, “we have seen green pitches and in some places, we saw totally flat wickets.”
The Lankan legend thinks in World Cup it's essential to make neutral pitches for everyone so that no team gets any extra advantage from the wicket.
Earlier Sri Lankan team manager Ashanta De Mel expressed his frustration about the wickets and gave a letter to ICC regarding this situation.
"Uniform neutral pitches are a key requirement for a global tournament like this and that has unfortunately not always been the case. Sides have to adjust, but the disgruntled murmurs emanating from some team camps can be understood." Sangakkara wrote in an article.
