Bangladeshi pace bowler Taskin Ahmed said on Thursday that his participation in the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL)’s super-league phase will depend on how he improve in the upcoming days.
Taskin began his bowling for the first time since the right-arm pacer sustained ankle injury while trying to take a catch in the boundary line against Chittagong Vikings in the last edition of Bangladesh Premier League.
Taskin was ruled out of the ODI series against the Kiwis after he made his way into the squad on the back of 22 wickets in 12 matches for Sylhet Sixers in BPL after an MRI revealed that he needs at least three weeks of rest to recover fully after tearing his ligament in his left ankle while taking that morale shattering catch.
‘’I am feeling good because I could complete a bowling session after gap of over two months. I am working with physio Shaon bhai while Debashsish and Bayezid is also working behind my recovery,’’ he said.

‘’He [physio] had given me quite a few fitness test and after successfully crossing those hurdles I started my bowling today. I have to through certain process. if there was no fitness test than I could have started bowling earlier,’’ he said.
‘’After passing the fitness test today I bowled 30 deliveries in short run-up. Intensity will increase with passing days. I will bowl every alternate days while I am hoping to play from Super League. My improvement will determine from when I will start playing competitive cricket,’’ he said.
Taskin also stated earlier that he is still dreaming to be part of Bangladesh World Cup squad for the upcoming edition.
I had not played in the national team for a year due to injuries and as I was off-form. It will be a little difficult for me but I have to accept the reality. Because I was injured I could not play well,” he said.
Taskin said that he is eyeing to be part of the World Cup squad as that is his ultimate dream.
“Truly speaking, I am giving priority to World Cup. Because playing in the World Cup is my dream. I don’t know what will happen in future but I am not thinking for far ahead. I am giving top priority to me being hundred percent fit and getting a chance in World Cup squad. Because I had played the World Cup 2015,” said Taskin.
Though no team yet confirmed Taskin it is understood that if he is fit he will be snapped by one of the top-six teams that will play in the super league.
