Prime Doleshwar vs Khelaghar

Opener Saif Hasan continued his rich vein of form as he smashed second successive century to lead Prime Doleshwar to a comprehensive seven-wicket win over Khelaghar Samaj Kallayan Samity at BKSP-3 ground on Saturday.

Saif followed his 102 against Gazi Group Cricketers with an unbeaten 132 as Doleshwar cantered to the victory by making 258-3 in 46.4 overs after Khelaghar posted 257-9 in 50 overs.

His 134 ball-knock, studded by nine fours and three sixes, almost single-handedly drove the side to the victory. The next best was Marshall Ayub’s 40 while Saad Nasim was unbeaten on 34.

His fellow opener Shykat Ali fell for 14, continuing his poor form but Saif confidently kept the side in the hunt. He shared 61-run with Mahmudul Hasan (24) and then added further 78-run with Marshall Ayub to set the platform of a comfortable victory.

Thereafter he and Saad Nasim combined for an 86-run partnership in an undefeated fourth-wicket stand to sail the side home.

Robiul Islam Robi, Irfan Hossain and Mosaddek Iftekhar picked up one wicket apiece for Khelaghar.  While Saif’s purple patch with willow continued his skipper Farhad Reza continued his good form with cherry as he snapped 3-40 to derail Khelaghar who looked poised for the hefty total.

Mahidul Islam Ankan struck 86 and opener Sadikur Rahman added 58 as Khelaghar were 204-3 at one stage before Farhad triggered a sensational collapse. They finally lost five wickets for 53 runs to be restricted to 257-9, a score that wasn’t enough to beat a strong team like Doleshwar.

By virtue of this victory, Doleshwar amassed eight points from five games to remain in the third position by net-run-rate.

BKSP vs Brothers Union

Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothisthan (BKSP) pulled off a thrilling two-run victory over Brothers Union to register their only second victory at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Playing his only fourth List A game, their medium pacer Mukidul Islam claimed his career-best 4-62 and took two wickets for four runs in the penultimate over to deprive comparatively stronger team Brothers of a victory. Brothers finally were restricted to 265-9 after failing to score required 12 runs in the last over. Earlier BKSP piled up 267-9.

Shamim Hasan struck 71 while captain Akbar Ali scored 56 to set the platform of BKSP. Parvej Hossain Emon then smashed 54 ball-69, clattering three fours and five sixes to give the side a late impetus and helped to set a tough target for Brothers.

Veteran pace Mohammad Sharif grabbed 3-65 to be the most successful bowler for Brothers while Ebadat Hossain snared 2-57. Opener Junaid Siddique made 52 to give Brothers a solid start before Indian recruit Chirag Jani held together the innings with 96 runs. Jani was dismissed, leaving the side in 252-5.

With five wickets intact and needing just 16 off 12 balls to seal the deal, Brother were still favourite. However, they lost four wickets for 13 runs in the last two overs to concede the defeat.

Shinepukur vs Uttara

Opener Sabbir Hossain fell for nervous 99 before claiming 3-27 with cherry to put up a stellar all-round performance which was instrumental in breaking the losing-jinx of Shinepukur Cricket Club.

Riding on his all-round performance, Shinepukur registered their first victory in DPL, crushing Uttara Sporting Club by eight wickets at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah today.

Put into bat first, Uttara were shot out for 145 in 44.4 overs, a score which Shinepukur comfortably overhauled making 149-2 in just 25.1 overs.

Sabbir struck seven fours and as many sixes in his 72 ball-99 runs knock that made the victory a cake-walk. Ably supported by his fellow opener Shadman Islam, he paved the platform of the facile victory by sharing 117-run for the opening stand.

Shadman made a patient 38, featuring two fours and one six before Naimul Islam (1-47) removed him. Jahangir Alam (1-24) then dismissed Sabbir for 99 as the score was level. Amit Hasan (6 not out) sent the ball across the rope for the boundary to complete the inevitable.

Earlier Sabbir troubled Uttara Sporting Club with his gentle medium pace. He scalped 3-27, which was complemented by Rakibul Hasan’s 2-18 as they tormented Uttara right from the start. Uttara’s No.7 batsman Minhajul Abedin was the highest scorer with 51 not out. Opener Tanzid Hasan was the other notable scorer with 25.
