Rain ruined third ODI Afghanistan vs Ireland

The second ODI between Afghanistan and Ireland ended with no result due to relentless rain on Saturday in Uttarakhand.
Before the rain, Afghanistan scored 250 for 7 in 48.3 overs after electing to bat first. The Afghans openers Hazratullah Zazai and Javed Ahmadi added 90 runs in the opening-stand. The pair was broken by Andy McBrine who removed Zazai for 67 off 43 balls. Then, George Dockrell dismissed another opener Ahmadi for 22 runs. However, Rahmat Shah and Hashmatullah Shahidi took the command and added 87-run in their third-wicket-stand.
Shah smashed 54 off 66 balls while Shahidi knocked 52 off 78 balls. Shah was stopped by Dockrell. Ireland then got another quick success while McBrine removed captain Asghar Afghan for 8 runs. But, Mohammad Nabi along with Shahidi added 38 runs in their fifth-wicket-stand. Nabi scored 24 off 20 deliveries before his departure. Then, Shahidi was also sent back by veteran Boyd Rankin. Ireland got another quick success while Dockrell took his third wicket of Gulbadin Naib for 3. At last Rashid Khan and Ikram Ali Khil were unbeaten at 11 and 5 runs respectively. George Dockrell took three wickets.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan led the 5-match-ODI series 1-0 beating Ireland by 5 wickets in the first ODI match. Earlier, they whitewashed Iris in the three-T20-series. The third ODI will take place at the same venue on March 5.
