Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed has been probably the form of his life in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), which forced his way back into the national team once again. More importantly, his form made him the go-to bowler for Bangladesh in New Zealand condition as he has the pace and aggression, required to conquer the New Zealand condition. But an unfortunate ankle injury sidelined him for a couple of months and dashed his hope to thrive in New Zealand condition. However, Injury remains recurring for him and he made up his mind to live with the injury like his icon Mashrafe Bin Mortaza. The fast bowler on Sunday talked to the journalists about his injury status and his future plan. Here is the conversation:

What had the doctor said?

Taskin Ahmed: Much better now by the mercy of Allah. Three weeks had been elapsed. I have been using a crutch for a long time. But now I will walk without it from tomorrow. And the Rehab schedule has been upgraded so the exercises will be increased. It feels good to me too. Now I can stand normally without the crutch, I can walk also. So far, everything is positive and going well.

What were the instructions?

Taskin: I'm doing different exercises now. Much better now by the grace of Allah. Hopefully, everything will be better for me.

Is it possible for you to play Super League in DPL?

Taskin: I also hope so. If there is no problem and everything goes smoothly, then I will definitely play the Super League.

Do you believe that you can keep up the BPL Rhythm?

Taskin: Actually, rhythm is very important. The main thing is ‘the confidence’ that is imperative for a good cricket I have that. I am watching the BPL's bowling videos when I feel so bad and think that I am not playing now… I am not playing in the New Zealand series. But it is okay. It's a part of life. My dream is coming in future. We will try to do whatever we can do for that.

Definitely, you have the hope to play World Cup…

Taskin: If I had not been injured, I would have played in the Premier League with my all effort since the beginning of the game. Every session is important. The time was tough for me when there was a series of injuries hit me one by one. Actually, the important thing is ‘to extend your period of good performance’.

Will it be a new beginning for you (after recovering from the injury)?

Taskin: Actually, I will try to give my best in the Premier League. I wish for the place in World Cup squad. It is not easy getting the chance there. Too difficult. Perhaps, there are some chances have been created due to the good performance in the BPL….but still it is ‘challenging’. Have to be healthy, and have to play well in the League. Then, the Ireland series…Definitely, too tough to play in the Bangladesh team and to hold the position here.

What’s your take on the curse of the injury?

Taskin: Yes, it is definitely a curse for a fast bowler. But hopefully, it will be well. My role model, Mashrafe vai, he has been a legend after a lot of struggles. So, have to admit that the injury will come to a fast bowler. But, have to make a comeback as soon as possible. You are saying about the time… I think you can comeback faster if you were mentally tough. Hopefully, I can do it.
