Bangladesh’s Test pace bowler Abu Jayed said on Friday that they are finding it hard to execute their plans due to blowing wind.

The blowing wind had always been a serious concern for the visitors during their tour of New Zealand in the past and it was no different this time too as they are not used to bowl against the wind.

Bangladesh have already lost the three-match ODI series as the host cleanly swept away the visitors in a comprehensive manner and would like to do the same in the three-match Test series that is scheduled to begin at Hamilton from February 28.

‘’The air is very heavy here. We will work on it today so that the bowlers can bowl in the right place,’’ Abu Jayed told reporters on Friday.

‘’I faced difficulties to bowl today as the balls were swinging [a lot] in the air,’’ he said

While the pace unit was a major source of inspiration for Bangladesh in the ODI’s format they were far from their best in the ongoing tour.

Many believed wind played a big part behind their below-par bowling display as they are neither comfortable bowling against the wind nor when they are bowling with the wind.

When it comes to bowling against the wind it seemed their body failed to conquer over the force that resists their normal run-up.

When they are bowling with the wind their major problem lies in pitching the ball in the right areas as they are not comfortable using it on their benefit, unlike their opponent who makes the most from the home condition.

Pacer Jayed is expected to be one of the major contenders for a place in the playing XI during the Test series due to the fact he got the ability to bowl long spells while also possess the ability to swing the ball.

However, he stressed the need to learn quickly how to adapt to the wind issue and he stressed practice game will be crucial for preparing them.

‘’The practice match is very important for us to get used to bowling in the Kiwi conditions,’’ he said.

‘’It’s very tough to pick wickets early in the innings[ because you need to bowl in the right areas] and  our pacers will try to do that,’’ said Jayed adding that they are well aware if they want to earn their maiden Test win against New Zealand at their own den they will need to pick all the 20 wickets

‘’We aim to get all 20 wickets. To win a Test match it is very important to pick all 20 wickets,’’ he said.

‘’We have come here almost 10 to 12 days and I think it is enough of time to get used to a new condition and we must get used to it quickly,’’ he concluded.

Bangladesh will play their second Test at Wellington from March 8 while concluding the three-match Test series with their last Test at Christchurch from March 16.
