The International Cricket Council chairman Shashank Manohar said on Thursday that he believe consistency will guide Bangladesh to the top position in cricketing world considering their rise as a cricketing nation.

Manohar, who was the first ICC chairman to pay a visit to Bangladesh, addressed a press-conference in a city hotel on Thursday and he was given a reception by the Bangladesh Cricket Board on his arrival to the neighbouring nation. ‘Cricket is doing well under the leadership of Nazmul [Hasan] and everybody knows in the world,’ Manohar told reporters in a city hotel on Thursday.

‘Bangladesh was the last team as far as the full nation has concern, now they can beat India, they can beat Australia and they can beat England. So they are performing very well and the only thing that is lacking is the consistency. Once they get it, they will be top on the world.

‘Asian countries will perform well, don’t worry with that. Bangladesh will also do well,’ he added.

Manohar was in a three-day visit to Bangladesh on an invitation of Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hasan who invited him to watch Bangladesh Premier League final, which is scheduled to take place in Mirpur today.

Manohar became nostalgic while going through the memory lane in order  to remember  his previous two visits in Bangladesh and added he was amazed with the development in the capital city.

‘‘Actually this is my third visit to Bangladesh. First time I came in Dhaka was in 2010, when world cup was to be played in Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka. That time the opening ceremony was to be held in Bangladesh so I had come to decide on the agencies for the opening ceremony,’ he said.

‘’The second time I came was in 2011, when there was an opening ceremony because that time I was the BCCI president. And today is the third time. I find a lot of changes in Dhaka. It has developed a lot. And to my surprise to be honest with you, the development in Dhaka in last eight years is huge,’ he added.
