Coming to the tournament as ‘red-hot favorite’, Dhaka Dynamites lost the momentum halfway through the innings, losing five games in six matches.

They then regrouped well to win the last match of the group phase that confirmed their play-off spot after which they thrashed an inform Chittagong Vikings at such ease that, Dhaka looked a team now to tick all boxes quite well. They will now take on Rangpur Riders--a team that ruined their hope of winning BPL trophy second straight time in the last season—to give at shot at the final for the third straight time. Before the match, termed as ‘Qualifier-2’ Dhaka Dynamites coach Khaled Mahmud Sujon shared his thoughts in general.

How have you taken the advantages?

Definitely, we have made a team of the champions. We regained our momentum beating Chittagong and Khulna. That was our turning point. We are now confident and have chances to do something. We have worked on our bowling and fielding. Mashallah, we successfully made top partnership in the last couple of matches. Though it is a positive sign, we are not taking Rangpur lightly. They were the defending champions. So, we have to play good cricket. I hope we will do well.

Is it the final before final?

Every match is final for us. Our knockout begins when we started playing against Khulna. The last match of the group stage was knockout for us. All matches are knockout and final matches for us. Obviously, those are game of nerves, game of pressure. Who will deal with it, will win the game.

The absence of AB and Hales will help you?

Definitely, it is a matter of relieving pressure. AB is a dangerous cricketer and no comment on Alex Hales. AB isn’t only a good batsman, he also inspires others. His presence encourages the team. Alex Hales also batted very well. I think Rangpur will remain in back-foot a little without them. It will give us extra confidence. But, still, Riders are dangerous because they have a strong top order. They still have enough fighting spirit. If you see that Benny Howell's batting, you will understand my point. Rangpur are the existing champions and we can’t take them lightly. In our case, we are a balanced team and we are playing well. We have fought back from the bad situation. I think it will be a good fight.

Is there any matter of revenge?

No, it is not like ‘taking revenge’. It is just a game. Who will play well, will win the match. ‘Revenge’ isn’t fitted here. Both of us now are in the same position. If we can execute our plans properly, we can get something good. I think our team is more balanced. If can take a look at our performances of the last two or three matches.

Is there any chance of a big score?

Why not? I think it will be a big scoring match. The wicket will be good and there is no chance to skid the ball.

What about injury issues and Aliss Islam?

No, Aliss may not play the game. Others are fit Mashallah. Even the performances are sill impressive Sunil Narine was amazing in the last couple of matches. I think he has got back in his form. I was worried about his bowling previously, but now it is ok. In the last match, Shakib and Sunil lead the bowling department. Though Shakib didn't get wicket, his effort was very important. Their contributions take us to the win.  I hope they will continue this.
