Chittagong Vikings superlative run in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League ended as they as they lost to Dhaka Dynamites six wickets in the Eliminator game at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Monday.
Vikings can surely leave the tournament with holding their head high as they came this far despite not being considered to be force to reckon with at the start of BPL considering the strength of their squad.
Though they failed to match against Dynamites in the qualifier as the home team outplayed them in all three departments but it can’t take their achievement by any means as they ran through some big teams on the back of collective effort.
"We certainly had the belief that we can achieve something in this BPL,’’ Mushfiqur told reporters during the post match press conference at Mirpur on Monday.
"We were not considered as a big force on pen and paper but we had the faith that we can do it,’’ he said. We did not play with any pressure and that probably played a big part in our advancement,’’ he said.

Mushfiqur added that he was impressed with some of their local performers but insisted that some of their foreign recruits did not perform as per their expectations.
Batsman Yasir Ali can be considered a big revelation in the tournament along with pace bowler Mohammad Khaled and Naeem Hasan for the franchise but on the same note Sikandar Raza and Cameron Delport remained a shadow of their past.
"I think Yasir played really well but if he could perform in the same till the end it would have served us better,’’ said Mushfiqur.
But some of our foreign recruits just did not meet our expectations for example Sikandar Raza played well for us last year and we retained him for that reason though he failed to perform. Delport performed well in the previous year for Dynamites but could not meet our expectations this season,’’ he said adding that he was pretty impressed with the way Robbie Frylinck performed for them in the tournament.
Mushfiqur added that they didn’t agree that they lost the momentum in their home town where they lost three matches on a trot before winning against Dynamites to book a berth in the final following their five wins from opening six games.
"I don’t think we lost the momentum there. Probably the wicket in Dhaka suited us better than that of Chittagong because if you consider our strength it was more favourable for us,’’ said Mushfiqur.
Vikings managed to get hold of their skipper Mushfiqur after he was allocated to the Vikings for the ongoing edition of the BPL just a few minutes before the draft process kicked off on a rather peculiar note on October 28.
No franchises were interested to buy him after Rajshahi Kings released him due to the fact that he just failed to end the BPL journey on a happy note especially with the way he parted with Barisal Bulls.
However, this time round it seemed he enjoyed every moment in the Vikings camp where he led from the front to take them to the last four scoring 426 runs from 13 matches’ average of 35 runs that includes a staggering strike rate of 139.
"You feel bad when you cannot take your franchise to the last four and it was the case in the last two editions and apart from that there is nothing much into it,’’ said Mushfiqur
"As far as my performance is concerned I don’t research about it and just try to give my best in the field,’’ he said. "It’s up to you[ media] to judge how I performed,’’ he added.
