More than his performance, at initial stage of his career pace-bowling all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin made him known to the cricket fraternity by conceding 31 runs to South African David Miller who went on to smash the fastest T20 International century later.

Since then it was duty to Saifuddin to erase the image of that 31-run thrashing in an over to Miller and it seemed he was on the way to bury that nightmare much like Stuart Broad. The English blond fast bowler Broad suffered more thrashing than Saifuddin as Indian hard-hitter Yuvraj Singh smashed him six sixes in an over during 2007 World T20.

The way he was doing the thing looked amazing. The lanky all-rounder kept his nerve to help Comilla Victorians earn a one-run win over Dhaka Dynamites on Friday and thus brought issue of Miller to the fore.

Victorians went a top of the point table, clinching a cliffhanger against Dhaka Dynamites by one-run as their bowlers held the never under immense pressure to materialize what could have been considered as the most thrilling victory in the BPL history.

Requiring 13 runs to win in the last over with big-hitter Andre Russell in the crease, Saifuddin, who earned the man of the match award for his career best 4-22, demonstrated a skill of perfect yorkers and cutters to restrict Dhaka to 126 for nine and scripted the side’s fascinating victory.

David Miller had literally doomed Saifuddin career during the last South Africa tour by hitting for five sixes in an over that eventually ended up through losing his place in the ODI.

He was included recently in the national set-up in the recent past and looked to have gained enormous amount of maturity when it comes to holding his nerves with the latest one comes in the form of holding it against Andre Russel, known to be one of the cleanest hitter of the ball as the pace bowler managed to take his team over the line restricting Russel from hitting him for a six like the way he did in the previous ball.

“I don’t know whenever I come to press conference you always ask me about the Miller because in cricket what is gone is gone so there is no point holding it back. I have managed to prove myself today and hopefully in similar condition will do the same in future,’’ Saifuddin told reporters after the match.

“For those of us who are international cricketers, or stars, there is no value in being average. You have to perform extraordinarily compared to the others.

“Comilla Victorians gives me priority [in death overs] and I try to repay the team by performing well. I enjoy bowling under pressure situations, Saifuddin concluded.

Saifuddin said that he is not ready to end up being bracketed as a mediocre cricketer and insisted he want to make the best out of the opportunity by proving his worth.

‘’For those of us who are international cricketers, or stars, there is no value in being average. You have to perform extraordinarily compared to the others,’’ said Saifuddin.

‘’The World Cup is in front of us, and naturally my target is to do something different from the norm since holding to a place in the national side is a very challenging job. From the start of the BPL, I had the urge to do something so that I can be in everyone’s focus.

Saifuddin thanked Victorians for keeping faith on him in the last over.

“Comilla Victorians gives me priority [in death overs] and I try to repay the team by performing well. I enjoy bowling under pressure situations, Saifuddin concluded,’’ said Saifuddin.

‘’I had planned a wide yorker and Rusell hit it over extra cover. I knew my strength and I wanted to bowl 100 percent yorker in the final delivery,’’ he said adding he is inspired by Mustafizur as he managed to win few games for Rajshahi Kings in the death over in the ongoing BPL.

‘’Biggest thing is that Mustafizur won a match against Rangpur that day and I felt that he is the same age as me, so if he can do it then why not me? I kept that in mind while bowling and was able to get success,’’ he concluded.
