Controversial all-rounder Sabbir Rahman vowed not to repeat the mistakes, stating that he would change his on and off field demeanour in a bid to make him better person and cricketer.
Sabbir was drafted into the Bangladesh’s 15-member squad for the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand after his six-month ban from international cricket was reduced.
The BCB had suspended Sabbir for six months from international cricket in September for abusing a fan in social media, making him unavailable for selection until the end of February 28 but somehow he managed to make a place for himself as the national selection panel included the controversial cricketer for three-match one-day international series against New Zealand, starting on February 13.
While announcing the team, chief selector Minhajul Abedin told reporters that they included Sabbir in the squad as BCB reduced his ban by one month while there was insistence from national skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza to include him.
Mystery surrounded regarding his inclusion as Mashrafe said that he did not force the selection panel while BCB disciplinary committee chairman Sheikh Sohel denied having any knowledge of reducing the ban on Sabbir adding that BCB president Nazmul might have reduced Sabbir’s ban at his own discretion.
To complicate things further BCB president denied having any prior knowledge about his ban been reduced while warned that it is the last chance for Sabbir.

Sabbir said that he is very grateful to the national skippers as well as the seniors for having faith in him and insisted he is well aware that it is his last chance.
‘’What BCB president said is important for every cricketers. We all have to be disciplined. In the middle I may have been bit indiscipline and that's why I got punished,’’ said Sabbir.
‘’I realize my mistakes now. Last one year, I realized that I'm an icon to so many people. So many kids are following me. All in all I think i should not have done all those things,’’ he said.
‘’I promise I won't commit any of those things. And I won't give other people any chance to talk negative things about me,’’ he added.
Sabbir said that he was not sure whether he would be recalled after being nowhere near his former self in the opening eight games before he eventually ended up making a noteworthy 85 runs for Sixers that is said to have big part on his inclusion after the insistence of national ODI skipper.
When asked whether there was any pressure to perform, he replied negatively but indicated he was getting confused with his own performance as he failed to meet his own expectation.
‘’No, there was no pressure,’’ said Sabbir.
‘’BPL was a big stage for me. May be I didn't do much. But I tried to use my opportunity. Sometimes I got the start but couldn't capitalize, got out unfortunately,’’ he said.
‘’I played well in two matches. Against Rangpur I did well. I was not out till the end against Khulna. Played well at no. 4 and wasn't bad at opening as well. I have got two more matches in the group stage. I want to play those two in the same way,’’ he said.
‘’I did not do well in the first 8 matches. It felt bad, it was disappointing. I was unsure about getting back in the team with my performances,’’ he said.
‘’That time Sixers coach and management helped me a lot. Senior cricket of national team helped me a lot. They told me, 'Do not get disappointed. One or two good innings can give you the national call up again.' That's what i tried. I am grateful towards everyone,’’ he added.
Sabbir added that he learnt the lesson during the last one year.
‘’Last one year wasn't very good for me. But everyone helped my in my bad time. That time I got to know which one is good and which one is bad. It was a negative time for me. Me and my family went through a lot,’’ said Sabbir.
