Rajshahi Kings batsman Fazle Rabbi said on Friday that their loss against Sylhet Sixers made their journey towards the last-four difficult.

Sohail Tanvir’s all-round show helped Sylhet Sixers keep their hope alive as they defeated Rajshahi Kings by 76 runs in a one-sided opening match of the of Bangladesh Premier League Chittagong-leg at the Zahur Ahmed Choudhury Stadium on Friday.

Tanvir’s late cameo of 23 off 10 balls after Sylhet’s new English recruit Jason Roy had set the foundation with a 42 off 28 balls helped Sylhet reach a challenging score of 180-6 to earn their third victory in the sixth edition of BPL and it also helped their hope alive in the tournament.

In reply, Fazle Mahmud played a lone battle with the bat for Rajshahi, scoring 50 off 41 balls as rest of the Rajshahi batsmen failed to put up any substantial score as Rajshahi were bowled out for 104 in 18.2 overs.

‘’We’re hopeful because still we have opportunity though it now becomes tougher for us after losing the match against Sylhet Sixters. We have three matches ahead what we have to win all to go into the play-offs. Falling wickets at regular intervals has toughen our chase today,’’ said Fazle Rabbi.

“Chasing was not so difficult; even batting on this deck. There is urgency for us to hit four and six to chase such a big target Actually, none of us did go for big partnership to chase the target of 181 runs. If we could make a big partnership then the match would be close,’’ he said.

“It’s, of course, challenging. We’ve to take the gauntlet. Now we’ve nothing else. If we could take it from heart then we will, of course fight back, Inshaallah,’’ he added.

Rabbi said that he wanted to bat aggressively from the beginning.

“From the early hour of the day I was in my planning that I will be aggressive in my batting. I didn’t come out of my planning,’’ said Fazle.

“I can’t convince this you all. We have planned properly but did not make more runs using our power-play in our most of the matches,’’ he said.

‘’So, if we could use power-play, I think, we will have chances of possibility of doing a bit better. We staged a comeback by playing the last two matches, where we used our power-play in right way,’’ he added.
