Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis is yet to take any decision regarding the second division match between Dhanmondi Progoti Sangha and Azim Cricket Club that ended abruptly after the former refused to play citing partial umpiring.
Progoti Sangho, a Dhaka second division cricket team on Monday officially lodged a complaint letter to cricket committee of Dhaka Metropolis to take action against partial umpiring and asked them for a re-match of their fourth round match against Azim Cricket Club.
An official of Dhanmondi team confirmed that they have issued a letter to CCDM chairman with giving a copy of that letter to Bangladesh Cricket Board president, Nazmul Hasan for a fresh match under new and honest umpires.
‘We gave a letter to CCDM chairman for holding a re-match against Azim Cricket Club,’ Riazuddin Ahmed Raju, the manager of the Dhanmondi team told reporters on Monday.

‘We didn’t find anyone but him to issue the letter. Now it’s upto them what they will make the decision. We made the protest to inform about bias umpiring which have been happening for many years. Now let’s see what they decide about the matter,’ he added.
The letter was issued after on-field umpires Shah Alam and Saidur Rahman made several biased decisions in favour of Azim Cricket Club in a Dhaka Second Division Cricket League match at BKSP-3 on Sunday, which prompted the Dhaka club to leave the field to protest the corrupt offense.
Dhanmondi reached 30-4 when they left the field while chasing a target of 207 against Azim and the umpires gave three Dhanmondi batsmen leg-before out and made several partial decisions in favour of Azim club, which is run by an influential board director of BCB.
CCDM in-charge Tawhid Mahmood said that they got a letter from the Dhanmondi team and would decide about the matter only after getting reports from match referee.
“We are yet to make decision. But according to playing conditions, if a team refused to play the other team will get the full points. The rest is depended on match referee report. It didn’t come directly to us. Firstly it goes to umpiring department and then it came to us,’’ said Tawhid.
‘’There was no one of us in the field so without being in the ground, we can’t understand the entire scenario. The decision will be made only after getting the match referee report,’’ he said.
“We [CCDM] have lest things to do in this aspect. The decision will be finally be made by the board,’’ he said.
It was not known immediately whether CCDM will follow the playing condition that states clearly that if a team refused to play he will be scrapped from the competition.
