Bangladesh head coach Steve Rhodes Rhodes insisted that they shouldn’t be get too carried away with the players’ performance in the BPL and having said that he indicated that the performance here will hardly have any impact on the national selection for the ICC Cricket World Cup.  Bangladesh’s World Cup preparation will begin in Ireland where they will play a tri-nation with the West Indies being the third team.

‘’The BPL, I don’t think we should get too carried away with the performances, whether the players do well or not so well. It’s a very different format to fifty overs and as you know, the fifty-over game, the ODI game we’ve been doing quite well recently. So I’m not getting too carried away but having said that, we all expect our players to perform,’’ he said.

He added that after the series against they will get some time to prepare for the triangular series in Ireland and World Cup in England and those times would be enough to prepare for them.

‘’Ireland, we’ll have good preparations for. We’ll have a little camp in Mirpur before we go, get to Ireland, experience some good cricket against the West Indies and Ireland and get used to the cold of Ireland and the wet. Slowly the wickets will start to dry by the time we get to England. Once again, I think with the Ireland preparation we’ll be in a good spot when we get to the World Cup in England. Hopefully by then our team would have carried on winning, very difficult to do certainly in New Zealand. If we can keep producing some good results, then we are going in the right direction in ODI cricket,’’ said Rhodes.

‘’They expect to perform as well. It doesn’t reflect too much on selection for World Cup, but it doesn’t do any harm – if you play well in this tournament in front of the TVs, the fans, the selectors and your fellow professional athletes, players from around the world, then it can be a good thing,’’ he added.
