Defending champion Rangpur Riders skipper Mashrafe bin Murtaza said that he would have came to open in all circumstances against Rajshahi Kings during their Bangladesh Premier League encounter at the SBNS on Sunday.
Mashrafee came to open the innings against Kings and that raised quite a few eyebrows considering the strength of their team it was nothing short of surprise.
Despite making such investment Riders opt to play the game against Kings without any regular openers that forced Mashrafe to try his luck at the top, though it went in vain as he could not manage to open his account.

However, Mashrafe defended the decision and said that it was due to too many left-handers at the opposition camp rather than lack of proper batsmen at the top while he even insisted that even if they had scored 60 runs he would have came to open as that was the plan made much before they arrived at the ground to play against Kings.
‘’Actually we didn’t take any opener today as well since, they had plethora of left-handed batsmen , we picked Nahid as the off-spinner,’’ said Mashrafe.
‘’Either Forhad Reza or us were supposed to do the openings., one of us had to do, so I stood up,’’ said Mashrafe.
‘We had already decided that way before. If they would have even made 60 runs, I would stand for the opening because it was pre-planned,’’ he added.
‘’The most important thing is to win the match what we could not. To chase 136 runs, I think we had enough batsmen. But none of us could deliver the performance according to the plan,’’ he added.
