Chittagong Vikings skipper Mushfiqur Rahim said on Wednesday that rather blaming the wicket they need to learn how to adapt and play in the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium surface.

Wicket had been the talk of the town since the start of BPL, country lone franchise based T20 tournament largely, as it failed to put up lot of runs on the board.

In the tournament opener defending champions Rangpur Riders were bundled out for 98 runs while it also witnessed Comilla Victorians being bowled out for a meager 63 runs.

According to Vikings skipper Mushfiqur cricketers need to learn how to adapt with the condition rather than putting wholesale blame on the wicket as during this time of the year one needs to stay at the wicket rather than trying to hit from the first ball.

David Warner and Nicholas Pooran scored half century respectively while Afif Hossain made valuable 45 runs to help Sylhet Sixers post a commendable 168-5 and eventually end the day with a five-run win over Vikings.

According to Mushfiqur it proves that wicket has something for the batsmen if they play sensible cricket as they came close to win it only to ruin it due to their inability to get some big hits in the middle overs.

‘’It is tough to play shots in every ball in this kind of wickets. If you look at Comilla- Rangpur match, the same things were discussed after that. Look at the innings of David Warner who usually plays at a strike-rate of 160-170. But today at a point of time he scored 30 in 30 balls,’’ Mushfiqur told reporters after the second game.

‘’Afif played a good innings which has reduced pressure for them. If Afif had struggled, Warner would have taken more chances. I think who will play smart cricket in BPL they will get more runs. If the batsmen can score at a strike-rate of 130-140, it can help the team to post a total of 150 and that can be a winning score,’’ he said.

‘’It was a good wicket in Mirpur compared to any other day. You see on the other days one team collapse and another team do well. But today, we saw both the teams scored runs. Despite losing three wickets in six runs, they have scored about 170 runs (168). It proved the wicket is better than any other day.

‘’We have a good start while batting in spite of losing some wickets during the middle overs but we scored some runs in last overs. And the foreign recruits need more time to get adapted with the condition. It is one week after they have come here. I think they are adapting with the condition now. The more matches they will play they more set they will be. Overall, it was a good wicket today. The wicket was sporting.
