As the no-ball incident turned out not-so-good following after Carlos Brathwaite and his teammates’ protest, which stopped the series-deciding third T20 between Bangladesh and West Indies on Saturday for around 10 minutes the captain insisted that he would gladly take if any sanction is imposed on him.
Brathwaite clearly was seen to loss his peace of mind on the fourth umpire near the boundary line after Oshane Thomas’s delivery with which he got Liton Das caught at mid-off, was called no-ball.

West Indies demanded a review but there is no ICC provision that a team could seek review in case of line decisions. At the same time, the decision of review was made after they were instructed by the dressing room.
The interpretation of laws came under the scanner here but of no avail. The West Indies skipper, manager, coach, match referee were having an animated discussion. However match referee tamed them all and finally the no ball decision stood. The game began again and West Indies won it in some style but the incident may prompt match referee to impose a sanction on him.
Brathwaite knows it well and is ready to take it as he insisted that as captain of a young team he needed to step up at that moment in a bid to keep his players motivated.
“Sanctions may come and go, but if you don’t stand for something, you fall for everything. If the sanctions are to be handed, I would gladly take it. My teammates need to be stood up for and as the captain of the ship, I will stand up for them.
“It happened earlier in the fourth over so a point needed to be made. They are young guys and I can’t ask them to fight that fight. If anything comes back, it should be on me. I am the leader of the ship. I just asked to stay put, stay as a team. Let me address the fourth umpire and the match referee. Obviously it was a bit hostile and emotional. We are fighting for our countries but it was respectful. I was just asking the rule.
