Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe bin Mortaza insisted that he is yet to digest the feat of achieving the Man of the Match award in his 200th ODI as he grabbed the prize for his outstanding bowling against West Indies in the ODI series opener at Dhaka on Sunday.
Bangladesh defeated the Caribbean side by five wickets in the match to earn a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Mashrafe earned a similar feat by claiming the Man of the Match during Bangladesh’s 100th ODI, which they had won against India by 15 runs at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in 2004.

When asked whether it was coincidental, Mashrafe refused to agree pointing it towards destiny after admitting he is yet to digest the proximity of earning a similar feat in his 200th ODI.
“I remember Bangladesh’s 100th match; it was probably against India at the Bangabundhu National Stadium and it was a long time ago while the other one just happened recently so I cannot say exactly how I am feeling,” Mashrafe told reporters after the match.
“I am not feeling anything special for reaching a milestone. But to be the Man of the Match made me happy as it helped the team to win the game.
“In this world there is nothing called coincident, we just make it up as things happen.”
Mashrafe added that he is still not hundred percent fit.
“I am carrying the injury that I sustained from the Zimbabwe series. So it is not a fact that I am at my best just because I have grabbed three wickets. Along the way I have added hamstring injury that I don’t have normally. So I am not physically far better than what I was during the Zimbabwe series,” he said.
