Soumya gets a nod for the third ODI

The Bangladesh Cricket Board announced on Wednesday that they have included Soumya Sarkar in the squad for the last ODI of the three-match series against Zimbabwe.
Soumya scored an unbeaten hundred in the only practice game against Zimbabwe and is also having a good time with bat and ball in the ongoing NCL, where he scored three half centuries and a century along with a five-wicket haul.

“We are not considering him to open the innings instead we will be keener to see how he reacts at three or seven,” Chief selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricfrenzy.
“Look we need to see what we really need at number seven as we are yet to decide about it considering whether we need a batting all-rounder or bowling all-rounder.
“You cannot forget that Soumya has certainly developed as a bowler and he is scoring quite consistently in the recent past to make us notice him,” said Minhajul.
Bangladesh have included Fazle Mahmud to fill the post at number three in absence of Shakib Al Hasan, who is ruled out of the tournament due to injury.
At present Mohammad Saifuddin is playing at number seven for the Tigers, the similar spot where Soumya played at the Asia Cup.
