Bangladesh’s all-rounder Shakib al Hasan has been ruled out for at least three months due to an infection to his injured little finger will delay his predetermined proceedings.

Shakib had opted for an emergency procedure to remove pus from his injured finger on his return to Dhaka from the Asia Cup in Dubai.

However, it is found out that there is an infection in his injured little finger and now he will now have to wait another three weeks for surgery on the injured finger as the infection need to be fixed.

The pus formed extended up to his left wrist, which was only spotted in Dhaka on Thursday, which in turn hindered predetermined proceedings.

"Any delay [of removing pus] would put me in great danger as the infection spread till my wrist. If I had waited another few days, my wrist would have become disabled. I feel better after they took out the pus, but the problem is until the infection isn't gone, there isn't going to be a surgery on my injured finger. It will take another 2-3 weeks to fix. After surgery I will need eight weeks, which means I am out for three months," Shakib told reporters

Shakib was forced to withdraw from the Asia Cup 2018 last Monday when the pain in his finger became unbearable thanks to the swelling during the tournament. Although Bangladesh's physio Tihan Chandramohan sent his reports and X-rays to doctors in Australia and England, he couldn't identify the possibility of an infection, despite the swelling.
