Bangladesh’s injured opener Tamim Iqbal is all set to miss the ODI series against Zimbabwe unless there is some dramatic recovery, said a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official on Thursday.

According to the physician, in all probability Tamim will miss the ODI series against Zimbabwe whether he needs an operation or not as even if does not require to go under the knife he will need three weeks to complete a rehabilitation program.

After his arrival, Tamim hinted that he might miss the home series against Zimbabwe as there is a possibility of him going under the knife if his healing process takes more time than usual.

If Tamim requires any operation that he is likely to miss the Zimbabwe series as according to the itinerary made public by the Bangladesh Cricket Board, Zimbabwe will arrive in Bangladesh on October 16and will play two practice games, a 50-over game before the ODIs and a three-day game before the Tests, that is scheduled to start from October 21.

“Whether he needs an operation or not is something we will decide after getting those x-ray results,” BCB physician Debashish Chowdhury told Cricfrenzy on Thursday. “If the alignment is misplaced in and around the area where he had fractured than there is a problem otherwise it can be healed following a rehab program. But even then when his bandage is removed, which is expected to be done after three weeks from the day of injury, he will need another three weeks for rehabilitation.”
