Bangladesh batsman Mushfiqur Rahim said that they are always dedicated to give their best shot for Bangladesh irrespective of the result.

Mushfiqur stole the limelight by turning the tables on Sri Lanka, who began the match on a dominant note.

76 of Mushfiq’r 144-run knock came from running between the wickets. The batsman was often seen grabbing his chest in pain in the latter part of his innings but never let his exhaustion take over his sense of responsibility.

The best part of the game came when Tamim Iqbal reappeared as the eleventh batsman, despite retiring hurt in the beginning. Defending the last ball of the 47th over with one hand to bring Mushfiq on strike, Tamim won the hearts of many. His act of bravery was not to save a match, neither was it an attempt to help the other batsman to complete his ton. The runs that came after his reappearance might seem redundant, especially after looking at the margin by which Bangladesh won the match, but it does carry a symbolic significance of character and passion. And Mushfiqur did justice to that significance by adding 32 runs, all on his own, in the last three overs of the game, before getting out off the penultimate delivery. Maybe his chest pain was of littler significance to Mushfiqur than the bravado that Tamim exhibited.

“There is a crack in my ribs and certainly there is pain,” said Mushfiq.

“But the way Tamim returned to batting was unbelievable because he had sustained fracture and batted with one hand and I knew I had to do something special for him,’’ he added while pointed out that they are always giving their best shot whenever they are coming to play for the nation.

“We always have the dedication towards our team as we won the match despite those injuries it came into focus but in matches that we have lost we had put the same amount of dedication,” said Mushfiq.

“We always try to give our best because it is our responsibility. Sometimes we fail and we lose on some occasions,” he concluded.

It is not comparing between Tamim and Mushfiqur’s contributions in that match, but the greater cause their appearances stood for that matters. Tamim's one-hand batting will come up again on many occasions in the future and whenever it does, it will undoubtedly be followed by Mushfiqur's bravery as well.
