Bangladesh need to be aware of dew factors as they look forward to the Asia Cup, slated in United Arab Emirates from September 15.

Bangladesh, who has been tied with Sri Lanka and Afghanistan in Group B, will play their opening match against Sri Lanka while they take on Afghanistan on September 20.

Bangladesh will be hoping to go one better this time around after reaching the final of the 50-over Asia Cup in 2012 and also of the T20 version in 2016 before losing at home to Pakistan and India respectively.

However, it can be a challenging prospect as far as going far in the tournament is concerned due to humid condition and possibilities of dew in the evening.

All the matches are expected to be day-night affairs and if there is dew then certainly that is expected to play a big part in Tigers Asia Cup campaign in UAE.

"I think the conditions that will be present during the Asia Cup will be determined mostly by the weather. We will have hot days, possibly humid nights with some heavy dew is possible,’’ Dubai International Stadium head curator Toby Lumsden was quoted in Daily Star.

"The conditions will change throughout the day. Maybe reasonably fast conditions in the afternoon session, and then it might seam a little bit at night time and maybe get a bit of grip and spin for the evening," Lumsden added.

In the near past, there were quite a few occasions when Tigers had to pay dearly for the dew factor - a layer of moisture can be noticed on the grass field during day-night/night games.

Dew affects the bowling team majorly. A wet ball is harder to grip, thereby putting bowlers to a disadvantage. This is most notable in finger-spin bowlers who depend on gripping the ball to get the required amount of turn.

Additionally, due to lack of grip, it is harder for the bowlers to maintain the desired line and length as compared to a non-dew environment.
