Batsman Sabbir Rahman said that his unstable batting position in the line-up had an impact on his career. He revealed it during an exclusive chat with Cricbuzz, as he is preparing alone to walk all the way during his six-month ban from international cricket that he received recently.
Sabbir said: “I have played around 50 matches in the last four years. But I had no fixed batting position. I have scored more at number three. If a player gets to bat early and keeps batting till the end, he'll definitely score more. I may have missed a few fifties or centuries while attempting to fulfill the team's demand as I've always played for the team. Everyone plays for the team. In the last two series, I have faced the last few balls. And you can't expect a player to score 40-50 runs in the last 20 balls or so. There were many innings when I am the one to blame for my dismissal as I gave away my wicket very easily.”

“I am analyzing those things, where I went wrong and trying to work on those areas to rectify myself.
“I will try to score more runs for the team and for myself once I get the opportunity and I am confident that I will be able to make it,” he added.
Sabbir said that if the team management asks him to bat down the order that he is doing more often than not, he is ready embrace the opportunity with open arms.
“Doing the finishing job isn't of much pressure for me [in the shorter format] as I like to smash the ball. I can play freely that way. Playing attacking cricket is my strength, irrespective of the format. Wherever the team management wanted me to bat, I have always tried to give my hundred percent,” he said.
