Bangladesh pace bowling coach Courtney Walsh said that the pace bowlers need to use their variations in the Asia Cup as the wicket is flat and docile. Bangladesh will begin their campaign with the opening game of the tournament against Sri Lanka at Abu Dhabi on September 15.
“I don’t think wicket in the Asia Cup is going to be perfect for the pacers,” said Walsh. “I think wicket in Dubai and Sharjah are normally pretty flat and docile and so I am expecting the pacers to use their variations a lot more.”
“I don’t think one-day cricket these days prefers wicket for the pace bowlers as everybody wants to see runs being scored.

“That is always a challenge for the pace bowlers because it is not easy on these good batting wickets,” he said.
Walsh is confident that the Tigers' pace unit does have the potential to leave a mark at the Asia Cup. According to him, their performance in the West Indies will keep them in good stead ahead of the multi-nation tournament.
“I am very optimistic. Mash [will be] leading the attack. He is a very experienced guy and the other guys will follow him,” said Walsh.
“Fizz [Mustafiz] is coming back with full confidence and Rubel [Hossain] is confident as well.
“The confidence of winning in West Indies will certainly help them,” he added.
