Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said on Thursday that they have added Mominul Haque as the 16th member of their squad for the Asia Cup.
The announcement came through an email sent by the BCB.
The addition was made under special circumstances as another squad-member, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, sustained an injury on Wednesday (September 5). He hurt his left thumb while practicing at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

The incident occurred when he was taking part in a fielding drill session and was taken to the hospital for further assessment.
According to BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin, they wanted to add an extra player as they wanted to have a back-up if necessary in the six-nation tournament, scheduled to begin on September 15, in the UAE.
“We are including him to stay on top of safety in case of emergency,” said Minhajul. “There are some injury concern though we are confident everyone will be fit to play before the tournament.”
Mominul last played an ODI back in 2015 at the ICC World Cup. He could again don the Red & Green jersey in the continental competition.
Bangladesh will play their first group match against Sri Lank on the opening day. They will face Afghanistan in their second and final group match on September 20.
