Bangladesh’s pacer Muztafizur Rahman believes he is yet to regain his full rhythm despite making valuable contribution in the three-match Twenty20 series against West Indies.

Mustafizur, who returned to the T20I squad for the three-match series against the host, was unavailable during the series against Afghanistan due to a toe injury that he sustained in the IPL, in May. He looked to be getting back to his rhythm, as he bagged eight wickets in the series.

The left-arm pace bowler performance not only played a big part in helping Tigers clinch the T20 series against West Indies but also acted as a huge sigh of relief for the team management.

Tigers were eagerly waiting for the speedster to get back his confidence and he did that in style with marked improvement on game to game basis. Mustafizur said that he is far from reaching the best while the overall performance of the team helped him getting unscratched with his bowling.

‘’We played well [as a unit] in the series but from personal perspective it was nothing spectacular as far as I am concerned’’ said Mustafizur. ‘’I should have bowled much better than what I did,’’ he said. Mustafizur admitted that he still carries a fear of injury as it recurred on quite a few occasions in his short career.

‘’Everyone will carry some kind of scare whenever he returns from an injury,’’ said Mustafizur. ‘’As I had sustained injuries on quite a few occasions the fear-factor plays even a bigger part at the back of mind,’’ he said.

‘’To be honest pace bowler carry this injury scare more than others. But I have to learn how to cope and play with it because if you are playing there is always possibilities of injury,’’ he added.

Injuries have continued to haunt the young bowler since he picked up the shoulder strain in England in 2016 early into his career while playing in the T0 blast. In 2017, he sustained a grade-two lateral ankle injury while warming up in a football drill during Bangladesh's tour of South Africa. That injury caused him to miss the start of BPL 2017.

Recently BCB announced that Mustafizur will be barred from taking part in the overseas domestic T20 tournament as they observed he picks up injuries while playing in the franchise leagues and as a result remains unavailable during the time of performing for national team.
