The Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB] is not in a hurry regarding getting Test status for the country's women's national cricket team, a BCB official confirmed.
BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury said that they will adopt a slow-go policy in case of getting Test status because they want to focus on the domestic circcuit as well as its development first.
Chowdhury also said that they are yet to develop the infrastructure, which is much-needed for the longer version cricket before gaining the status.
"We are working on the longer version as we have no longer- version cricket for women yet and it will be meaningless if we apply for Test status with the prevailing condition," BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury told reporters. “So, we have set our first target to introduce longer version at domestic circuit what we want to start it from the forthcoming cricket season.”

Australia (1934), England (1934), New Zealand (1935), South Africa (1960), West Indies (1976), India (1976), Pakistan (1998), Sri Lanka (1998), Ireland (2000), and the Netherlands (2007) are the ten teams that have gained the Test status.
Among them, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Sri Lanka played just one Test getting the Test status. Bangladesh could become the eleventh member Test-playing nation, but the possibility of that is not seen in near future.
Nizamuddin added that they have already chalked out a comprehensive program to bring a wholesale change in the women's team from grassroots to national level.
He said: “Right now women's team has been practicing under the guidance of the high-profile coaching staffs, from where we will form a national team and the rest of the players will be included in 'A' team for the new set-up.
“Actually we are working for women's cricket with due importance. The board takes it seriously so that we could be seen more success and its jaw-dropping performance.”
BCB recruited a host of the high-profile coaching staffs for the development of the women's cricket team. As soon as they joined the team, Bangladesh women's cricket team made a stunning surge lifting their maiden Women's Asia Cup trophy earlier this year in Malaysia.
The Tigresses also won the ICC Women's World T20 Qualifier in the Netherlands, in July. Winning the title in the qualifiers has given them a spot in the upcoming ICC Women's World T20, scheduled to be held in the West Indies.
