Chief of selectors Minhajul Abedin believes that the High Performance Unit have attained quite a bit of success as far as their role in developing the player for the upcoming future is concerned.

The High Performance squad consists of players that are considered to have potential to fill the spot in the national team as BCB host a four month long camp with a purposeful training module to improve their ability.

Although there is no significant amount of players representing the national team as per expectations, Minhajul said that the players in the HP team perform at a higher level in the domestic arena and that is a sign they are in the development system.

“We have to keep them in development. The players that are in the HP [High Performance] perform better in domestic cricket than the others and that is what we measure as a success,” Minhajul told Cricfrenzy on Thursday.

“The important thing is how much a player is developing and how good he is performing,” he said

“We are preparing some players for four-day matches, one day and T20s, even though we don’t explicitly name them,” he said

“A lot of players of the HP side are playing in the [Bangladesh] A team. Here is where we assess how much a player has developed from the HP.”

For the last four years, Jafrul Ehsan has been with the HP. Due to the fact that there is no foreign coach in the HP this time, he has been bestowed the role of the main coach of the HP team.

“Obviously, these things should be kept in check. They have been performing very well. The ones who have been here for four years are performing well in the domestic circuit and in all three formats. That is perhaps why when the team is selected, they obviously see if someone has potential,” Jafrul said when his attention was drawn regarding Sadman, who is placed in the HP Unit for four years in a row.
